The congregation is made up of all sorts of people from the local community. We come from all walks of life, and different traditions of the Christian faith. We very much consider ourselves as a family of sisters and brothers in Christ, but a family that is very much open to anyone who wants to join with us on our journey together following the way of Christ. We gather together to worship God, to pray, share fellowship, and then go out to try to live out God’s mission wherever we are.
We try to get involved in what’s happening in our own area, and we also support a number of different charities such as Christian Aid, local food banks, Leprosy Mission, and Mustard Seed mission. Every year we select a charity that works at home, and one that works abroad. Currently these are Porchlight, working with homeless people locally, and Mission Aviation Fellowship, which enables aid, development, and mission organisations to bring medical care, emergency relief, long-term development, and Christian hope to thousands of communities. We also support the yearly Scripture Union Beach Mission to Minnis Bay.
The Church members, through Church meeting, are the most important decision-making body of the Church. The Church elects some members, called Elders, to be responsible for the day to day running of the Church, including worship and pastoral care. The Minister is also an Elder.
Presently, the Church does not have a Minister.
Currently our Elders are:
Mrs Janet Monkhouse, Local Church worship leader,
Mr Alan Murray, Church Secretary,
Mrs Petra Murray, hall hire,
Mr Ted Allen, Treasurer,
Mrs Rosemary Bridge,
Mrs Helen Cole,
Mrs Mary Dilnot,
Mrs Ruth Hollands,
and Mrs Freda Slade.
